Instapundit points to a VMI prefessor's tale of academic discrimination found in Inside Higher Ed :: On Being the 'Other'.
Odd how the years change things - when I was a NROTC midshipman, we wore uniforms to class twice a week. If you had a class following drill you wore your uniform and assorted equipment. One semester I was lugging my sword to class with me. No one ever said a thing about it. Even in existential philosophy class, I was treated by all as just another student.
