Pirates from the renegade Indonesian province of Aceh have released the Thai captain and crew of an oil tanker, over a fortnight after they were captured in the Malaysian waters.
Pol. Lt. Col. Somkiert Jiwdan from the Satun marine police force, said that he had received reports that the men, captured at the beginning of the month, had been freed.
The captain and two members had been taken by the pirates from the BPP 14 oil tanker in the Malacca Straits, an area notorious for pirating.
