More than 35 Somali nationals, including women and children, apparently drowned after being thrown overboard by Somali sailors off Yemen's coast. Independent Yemeni daily al-Ayyam reported Saturday that the victims were on board two sail boats carrying 250 illegal immigrants trying to reach Yemen.
The paper quoted a survivor as saying that the captains of the two boats asked a number of immigrants to leave the boats about three nautical miles off the Yemeni coast and when they refused they just threw them overboard.
At least 35 perished and many others were still missing.
