One day after a case of miscommunication turned into a security scare at the Port of Miami, now there’s been a possible explosive scare at the busy Port, which may also have been a false alarm.Better safe than sorry...
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, a package that was to be loaded on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas, tested positive for C-4 plastic explosives by the private security firm, McRoberts Maritime Security, hired by the cruise line.
According to CBS local affiliate WFOR's Brian Andrews, officials from Customs and Border patrol used Miami-Dade bomb sniffing canines which did not detect any explosives. However, the Coast Guard says the package did test positive for trace amounts of the explosive.
The “Majesty of the Seas” was moved slightly to a different berth as the Miami-Dade bomb squad exploded the package without incident around 3:30 p.m.
