Malaysia has dispatched just one warship to the Gulf of Aden, not an anti-piracy task force, a senior Malaysian military official has told Fairplay. Widespread press reports to the contrary, the single warship and one supply vessel are tasked only to monitor movements, added the official, who said any resolution of the piracy crisis involving MISC’s Bunga Melati Dua and Bunga Melati 5 would be achieved by diplomatic rather than military means.
