Navy to name LPD 26 for Rep. John Murtha - Navy Times
Booo! Booo! Hiss!
Un-freaking- believable.
Surely there are lots of Marines who are far more deserving... than this political hack.
Hell, there are even far more deserving political hacks.
Please reconsider this one, Mr. Secretary, please.
What next?
How many Sailors and Marines will refuse orders to LPD26 if it is not renamed.
ReplyDeleteHard to fathom how blind and deaf can a CNO be to do this?
ReplyDeleteA worse choice could have been made. As an example, how about the late Herman Talmadge, Lt. Commander, USN, WW-II. Later Governor of Georgia and Senator from GA. His wife found tens of thousands in cash hidden away in an old coat hanging in their closet. He was 'denounced' by the Senate in an 81-15 vote for some of his discovered financial shenanigans.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I think you have the post backwards in that the USS SEA TIGER is surely a step up from naming a ship after Murtha. come to think of it, many rungs up the ladder.
ReplyDeleteI think one way to fight this is to hold a USS MURTHA Emblem contest.
Also, I for one refuse to ever step aboard any ship named MURTHA and I dare say I would work against any Murtha named ship from visiting my local port. Let it dock in PA.
