Monday Read: Border War

The drug and illegal alien troubles on the border with Mexico are the topic of a disturbing post at Herschel Smith's The Captain's Journal "Border War". Then NBC News report is good and shows the use of boats to move large quantities of drugs.

A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency plan for the border here, from whence came the map above. That blue thing wandering the border is not a security zone, but an environmental planning area.

'Border war'? It is practically a stealth invasion which most politicians refuse to address or are ready to surrender.

Unfortunately I’m not too surprised that folks in other parts of the U.S. aren’t aware. But, but it’s amazing how many people here in TX are clueless to what’s happening along the border. I’ve pointed a few folks at the info posted on Small Wars Journal and they just can’t believe it. “If it was really a problem I’d hear more about it on the news” and “it can’t be that bad or the federal govt would do more” are the primary responses I hear.
There’s a little market over in San Antonio that’s ,well, just like shopping in some of the markets in Mexico (or at least what they used to be like). Over the past 4-5 years there’s been a big increase in how many Muerta figures and items they have. Same people that can’t believe the stories also just don’t understand why “all this stuff” is now being sold.
