I second the recommendation for "At Close Quarters." Not so much a rah rah war story, but a professional naval officer looked at the design, production, logistics, staffing, tactics, and campaigns of PT boats in WWII.

Thanks Mark! Though an P-3 airdale, my first love was PT boats. Have the Lindberg "PT 109" model; souped it up two direct electric drives that make it plane and ride like the real thing. Radio control, of course. But I had never seen these Elco videos, and all the pics. Also listen to you and Phib when I can on Sundays. Thanks for all you do! Steve Heffernan / sodakheff@yahoo.com

  3. Really enjoyed the videos. I live a quarter mile from Huckins Boatyard, where they still build the descendants of their own PT boats (Fairform Flyers).

  4. I was privileged to work as the Marine in INSURV under the late legendary John D. Bulkeley, a sailor's sailor. Fascinating to hear him talk about his exploits in the Phillipines and elsewhere during WW II.
