From the thrilling days of yesteryear, equipment no longer in service with our Navy goes looking for submarines. ASW is hard work.

Oh, yes, some the references may be as out of date as the equipment. Like referring to "Soviet" submarines.
LCDR Dynamic must've been slow leaving the building when they were looking for someone to give the presentation. He seemed to really want to be somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteI'm still unconvinced that whatever savings we might have accrued by early retiring the S3, without replacement, is far less than the value that they provided the Navy in the ASW, tanker, recon, ESM and other roles. But hey, we've got green fuel, so I guess it's all good.
On the subject of green energy, I read, the other day, that the USN spent roughly half what the sequester was supposed to save on wind turbines this past year.
